Time for Change

So, again, it's been a while.  But, lately, I just can't find the time to post, and it's kind of irritating.  But I'm making time this week.  I'm making time because I can't believe that I haven't written about this subject before. It's discriminating, unsanitary, inconvenient, and just plain wrong.  It's something that Mama Bird and I have encountered many times in the past, which is why I can't believe that, in over a year now, I have yet to write about this myself.  Let's talk change...

The Path Less Travelled

So it's been a few weeks since I have posted, but two more schedule changes threw me for a bit of a loop, and now I'm back and better than ever.  But I promise that you all have been on my mind.  I want to write a little bit this week on a sort of educational topic, one that my most avid readers know is something that I am pretty passionate about.  But I want to take it in a more personal direction and also include a few more little factoids, especially one that piqued my curiosity earlier today.  I'm talking about, yep, you may have guessed it, Cloth vs. Disposable diapers.

Grow a Set!

So I guess one of the advantages of writing once a week, late on Saturday night/Sunday morning, is that I get to see the stories that sprout earlier in the week and develop into a maelstrom by the time I get to sit down. It gives me the opportunity to watch the dust settle, do some research and find out what's really happening. I was lucky enough to have a good  story last week, and I'm now fortunate enough to to have it happen for consecutive weeks.  If you didn't get a chance, check out my post from last week regarding, let's call it a misinterpretation, of a recently published CDC Study. And, now, on to the big story of the last week.

CDC Say What???

OK, so I’m a little late to the table on this one.  Not to mention the fact that I’ve been pretty silent for quite some time.  For anyone who has ever read my blog, you know just how passionate I am about breast feeding.  You also know that I understand that there are certain circumstances when formula feeding is necessary.  If you haven’t read my blog before (or forgot how I feel about this topic), check out this breast feeding post from last year.  OK, now that you’re up to date, let’s dive in, shall we?

Shattered Lives

Nothing makes us think more than the death of someone we know.  It may be someone that we haven’t known more than a few weeks, and we may not have known him well at all.  But sometimes those losses weigh that much more on your mind, body, and soul.  Recently we lost a fellow father at en extremely young age, 20 to be exact, and it has opened my eyes even more when it comes to the well-being of my own family.

My Anti-Cable Rant

A fellow blogger here on the East CoastSamster Mommy, recently wrote about the cancellation of All My Children.  At the end she posed the following question: "I’m curious, am I the only one who feels this way or have you been run over by the big guy?"  The following post is my response to her question.

Fishies or Animals?

2011-08-02 13.27.00_edit0
So we decided to let Little E plan our day yesterday.  After sleeping in until 9:30 in the morning, we climbed in the car and headed towards Baltimore with the National Aquarium as our destination.  This was per her request to go see "nemos" in the morning.  For the record and to avoid any impending lawsuits, thanks to the Disney Corporation, all fish, including Goldfish crackers, are known as "nemos".  As we neared the wonderful city of Baltimore, I chose to ask our 2-year-old navigator if she wanted to see fishies or animals.  Her reply was of course: animals.  And just in the nick of time, too, because the next exit was the exit for the Maryland Zoo.
